This is my second blog.

My first blog chronicled my experiences over three years caring for my dad as he lived through and finally died from Alzheimer's. That is the book that is for sale.

This second blog kind of chronicles of life, what it is like to start your life over in your late 50's. After caretaking, you are damaged, file bankruptcy, and the world doesn't care what you did. After 8 months of unemployment, you wake each day knowing the world doesn't want you. Finally you do find a job, 5 weeks before homelessness, but doing what you did 30 years ago and getting paid what you did 30 years ago. So this is starting over.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.

Donald Trump is in office now for over 72 hours, and today when I went to the store, I saw several mexicans, blacks, and one muslim.  I thought they were going to be picked up and eliminated by now?

And then I find out those millions of women who were protesting over the weekend actually safely returned home, proving Trump is a total fake.

And Ashley Judd, poor woman.  Had to give a speech to millions of women and didn't have her therapy dog with her: strange how someone like her needs a therapy dog to ride on a plane or sit thru a sporting event but then tries to give a speech to millions of onlookers without the dog.  I always thought she was one of the best looking women in Follywood and as long as she stayed healthy would have age beautifully - apparently, she or her therapy dog thought otherwise because that poor gal has either botoxed or lifted herself to the point I didn't even actually recognize her initially.

Probably botox, because it seems to have seeped into her brain.  Can you imagine accusing a guy of sexual desires towards his own daughter?  Why, if she'd been a guy named Ash Judd, Trump would be totally entitled to punch him in the mouth.  But being female he won't, nor will others approve of him punching a woman in the mouth, even when she deserves it, but then that's because we are chauvinistic brutes - why a true 21st century man would  probably punch her under the equal rights statue.

Which begs another question, in a culture that seems to think men and women, women and women, men and men, men dressed was women with men, men dressed as women with women dressed as men, women dressed as trees with men dressed as cats and just about every other combination you can think of is perfectly okay so why would they be so against Trump and his daughter if both were consenting adults?  Double standard?  Ashley needs reprogramming it looks like.

Sorry I haven't posted anything for two months, I wasn't really upset that no one knows I probably came closer to predicting the election than anyone else, certainly in the top 1%, just didn't feel like writing anything.

But, since this blog started out about a 55 year old guy who just spent 4 years caring for a parent dying of Alzheimers and what the two of use went thru and now having to start life over at 55, bankrupt, broke, out of work and racing against being homeless, who finally finds a job and now must start rebuilding his life, this is kind of a cool time.

Got my paycheck with all the overtime and double time and bought new living room furniture.  Finally getting rid of the love seat that was repeatedly used to soak up whatever escaped my dad on a daily basis as well as I suspect the dog using it, figuring I'd blame grandpa for it and now have coming tomorrow a real sofa I can stretch out on and fall asleep watching TV.

Guess I'll have to get a TV now.  Nah.

And I almost have enough, and will have enough, to buy a new Specialized AWOL bike in two months.  This is the bike I will train on, pull apart and put back together several times, and use for my 2020 trip across the US to take my mom's ashes back home.  Well, providing I don't get killed by a car riding the bike before then.

Little results of research, did you know that few helmets will protect you from concussions?  Bike helmets don't, obviously football helmets don't either.  There is one company in Sweden that makes this neck airbag system that has little monitors all over and when it detects an accident occurring inflates a bag over your entire head and neck and will protect against impacts, skull splits, and concussions.  Unfortunately, they only work once, cost 300 bucks, and you will probably still get a ticket for not having a helmet on unless you get tricky and shave your head and paint it red or something to fool the cops driving by.

But the point is, the old stuff going and new stuff coming in, paying cash, and it's like a turn of the page, a moving on from what was to what is.  Only took 3 1/2 years.

So now that the furniture is replaced, the bike is about bought, and being a simple man with simple needs I am now, at 59, going to start a 401k, again.  I debated this the past year, it's really too little too late, but then how do I know that?  What if I can keep doing this job, with this company, another 10 years, then 10% plus 6% match and if Trump is successful like a Reagan, that 16% for 10 years might actually provide enough.

Smell a lot of 'ifs' in that plan.  But, then, not really a plan, because after spending 4 years as a caretaker of Alzheimer's, I don't kid myself about control.

Anyone catch the new Sherlock Series 4?  First episode uses the Appointment at Samaria or Sammara as the centerpiece of the story.  Thought that was cool, especially the line at the end when a road turns to a river with only one course you cannot change.

Well, if any imaginary readers are still out there, promise it won't be two months until the next post.

Judge not this race by empty remains
Do you judge God by his creatures when they are dead
For now the lizard shedded its tail
This is the end of man's long union with Earth

From life alone to life as one
Think not now your journey done
For though your ship be sturdy
No mercy has the sea
Will you survive on the ocean of being
Come ancient children hear what I say
This is my party counsel for you on your way

Sadly now your thoughts turn to the stars
Where we have gone you know you never can go
Watcher of the skies watcher of all
This is your fate alone, this fate is your own
