A MIND FOREVER VOYAGING THROUGH STRANGE SEAS OF THOUGHT, ALONE

This is my second blog.

My first blog chronicled my experiences over three years caring for my dad as he lived through and finally died from Alzheimer's. That is the book that is for sale.

This second blog kind of chronicles of life, what it is like to start your life over in your late 50's. After caretaking, you are damaged, file bankruptcy, and the world doesn't care what you did. After 8 months of unemployment, you wake each day knowing the world doesn't want you. Finally you do find a job, 5 weeks before homelessness, but doing what you did 30 years ago and getting paid what you did 30 years ago. So this is starting over.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.

HUH AND MERRY CHRISTMAS

The other evening, I was perusing BeforeIt'sNews because I just think it is the funniest website on the net.  In spite of incorrectly predicting the end of life as we know it for the last 38 consecutive months, some of the stories remind me of a paranoid Fox Mulder version of the old Penthouse Advisor; the "I never thought this would happen to me" but instead of sex they get abducted by aliens or something.

Not that I ever read Penthouse Advisor.  Nor have I been abducted by aliens, at least not that I remember.  Crap, I hardly remember having sex, so maybe I was abducted by aliens while reading Penthouse Advisor.  I should quit typing out loud.

So with great humor I clicked on a link by some chick, I'm sorry, that is sexist; some bird, who posted a youtube thing about how she had a vision that this spring, in 2014, a giant meteor or astroid would hit the Earth, in the Atlantic Ocean, and wipe out a large part of the east coast of America, which as many of my long term readers know, is my solution to fixing this country.  So it was, well, actually, boring as crap but I listened to the whole thing and tried to make sense of the thousands of years timeline graph she had for the picture.  Jeesh, she is worse than the Japanese and their stupid A3's.

And while listening, I did a little more research on the bird and discovered an interesting fact.  She posted on March 9, 2011 another youtube video saying there would be a major earthquake of global proportions around Japan sometime between the 11th and 15th.

And, on the 11th, we got Fuku'd.

Huh.

Well, I'm not one to put much faith in people predicting the future.  Jeanne Dixon predicted JFK and spent the rest of her life incorrectly predicting anything and everything all because she once hit the right note on the keyboard.

Then this morning, I read some Russian military guy said the reason they were moving missiles to the western part of the country was because of an incoming asteroid that would hit in spring of 2014.  Huh.  That always confuses me, when I think of the western part of Russia it's really east of here and their eastern part is west of here.  This is why I don't use GPS.

So I started looking up from more reliable sources if there is anything to all of this and found this article from 2003:

Asteroid may hit Planet Earth on March 21, 2014.

Scientists monitoring an asteroid have warned it could collide with Earth in just over a decade.

The newly discovered asteroid, known as 2003 QQ47, is around two-thirds of a mile wide and has been classified as "an event meriting careful monitoring" by astronomers.

It is around one tenth fo the size of the meteor that is thought to have wiped out dinosaurs on Earth 65 million years ago.

In the event of it hitting the Earth, the rock would have the force of 350,000 mega tonnes - around eight million times more powerful than the bomb dropped at Hiroshima at the end of the Second World War.

On impact it would be travelling at 75,000 miles a hour.

Experts say the giant rock, which was first spotted by Lincoln Near Earth Asteroid Research Program (Linear) in New Mexico, could impact on Earth on March 21, 2014.

But they say the probability of the asteroid hitting Earth is just one in 909,000 and the risk of impact is likely to decrease as they collect more information.

With a mass of around 2,600 million tons, it has been given a "Torino hazard rating" of one. Scientists said it is likely to drop down the Torino hazard scale as more observations are made.

Its orbit calculations are currently based on just 51 observations during a seven-day period.

Dr Alan Fitzsimmons of Queen's University, Belfast, one of the expert team advising the UK Near Earth Objects Information Centre, based in Leicester, said: "The NEO will be observable from Earth for the next two months, and astronomers will continue to track it over this period."

He added that there is no cause for concern over the asteroid.

Asteroids such as 2003 QQ47 are chunks of rock left over from the formation of our solar system 4.5 billion years ago.

Most are kept at a safe distance from Earth in the asteroid belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.

But the gravitational influence of giant planets such as Jupiter can nudge asteroids out of these safe orbits and send them plunging into the Earth's neighbourhood.

Then today, there is this article from the British press:

Asteroid hurtles towards earth

Scientists were today warning of a possible asteroid collision with the Earth.

An asteroid around two-thirds of a mile wide (1.2km) could hit the earth on March 21, 2014 and has been classified as "an event meriting careful monitoring" by astronomers.

But they say the probability of the asteroid hitting Earth is just 1 in 909,000 and the risk of impact is likely to decrease as they collect more information.

The giant rock was first observed on August 24 by Lincoln Near Earth Asteroid Research Program (LINEAR), based in Socorro, New Mexico.

The observations were reported to the Minor Planet Centre in Massachusetts, a centre for all new discoveries of asteroids and comets. The asteroid has been given a classification - known as a "Torino hazard rating" of one - defining it as "an event meriting careful monitoring."

Scientists said it was likely to drop down the scale for hazard as more observations were made.

Kevin Yates, project manager for the UK NEO Information Centre, said: "As additional observations are made over the coming months, and the uncertainties decrease, asteroid 2003 QQ47 is likely to drop down the Torino scale.

"The NEO Information Centre will continue to monitor the latest results of observations and publish regular updates on our website."

Huh.

Strange in 10 years their ability to figure out if this is going to hit or not has not changed one bit.  Also seems plagiarism is rampant in the British Isles.  But they still have a couple of months to figure it out, the asteroid I mean, not plagiarism.

I wonder if congress is in session on March 21?  One can hope.  Then again, does all of this explain the behavior of our fearless leaders the last 10 years?

Think about it.  Here in CO, we got this great airport we didn't need, miles outside the city of Denver, and rumors for years about all the underground building and work being done.  Then you got all those Conspiracy Theory shows that actually provided film footage of an underground facility in the Ozarks.

Nah.  That is just nutty.  Almost as nutty as wondering if all those earthquakes in OK and TX are being caused by one of those Big Bertha tunnel diggers  building a tunnel from Denver's underground city to Dallas.

But then, if they knew this was coming, why not print money like there is no tomorrow when they are pretty sure there is no tomorrow?  So they just print and print cash, build the underground facilities, and figure no big deal.  Unless of course the asteroid misses and now they have to explain - hey, wasn't that a subplot of some movie where the guy figured he wasn't going to live through the trip to the asteroid so he borrowed hundreds of thousands from the mob?  Huh.

Well, anyways, I don't put much stock in some bird posting youtube predictions even if she did strangely hit the Japan earthquake, but then again I could predict an earthquake in Japan in 2014 and odds are pretty good it will hit because they have them all the time.  But to pick it within a 3 day range, huh.  Then to find out that scientists have been watching said asteroid for 10 years and predicting the day it might hit, and when you think about it, is 1 out of 909000 really that big a number?  Much better odds than a lottery ticket and really better odds than the Cubs winning a World Series this millennium.

Just one of those strange things I've found of late.  Won't be posting for the next three days, so I wish everyone, especially Papa Duck, a very Merry Christmas.  May the Lord be remembered on this day we celebrate His birthday and may He bless all who do.

I'm a melancholy man, that's what I am,
All the world surrounds me, and my feet are on the ground.
I'm a very lonely man, doing what I can,
All the world astounds me and I think I understand
That we're going to keep growing, wait and see.

When all the stars are falling down
Into the sea and on the ground,
And angry voices carry on the wind,
A beam of light will fill your head
And you'll remember what's been said
By all the good men this world's ever known.
