This is my second blog.

My first blog chronicled my experiences over three years caring for my dad as he lived through and finally died from Alzheimer's. That is the book that is for sale.

This second blog kind of chronicles of life, what it is like to start your life over in your late 50's. After caretaking, you are damaged, file bankruptcy, and the world doesn't care what you did. After 8 months of unemployment, you wake each day knowing the world doesn't want you. Finally you do find a job, 5 weeks before homelessness, but doing what you did 30 years ago and getting paid what you did 30 years ago. So this is starting over.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.

I liked the story of the woman working as a 125k a year steno for congress who grabbed the microphone the other night and told them Freemasons founded this country, we are not under God, we better repent, etc etc etc.

And then they took her off for a mental health evaluation and how would a shrink view a person who says "God told me to do it?"  Frankly, I envy the woman, I wish God would talk to me.

One, if not my favorite, Bible accounts is Acts 9.  Saul is on the road to Damascus to hunt down and kill some Christians; instead, he meets Jesus on the road.  Many people think this is where Saul is "born again", but it's not.

See, Saul is the Renaissance Man, some 1500 years before anyone knew what a Renaissance Man would be.  He was a trained Rabbi by one of the students of one of the most famous Rabbi in Hebrew lore.  He had the equivalent of a doctor of greek philosophy from some Ivy League school so he was well versed in the sciences of the times, Socrates and Aristotle - which you can see in his arguments in Romans and other letters, and to top it off, he is a Roman citizen.  In these days, where Rome rules all, local laws still are used but cannot be applied against a Roman citizen.  So if in Syria, you step on a crack and they break your mothers back, if a Roman citizen steps on a crack, well, nothing happens.  It's like the first 'get out of jail free' card in the world.

So this is the man walking to Damascus.  An intellectual sociopath with a get out of jail free card.  Nothing can touch him.  And then he meets Jesus.

This guy's brain is fried.  The moment with Jesus blew his mind, as they use to say.  Nothing in his education prepared him for the event he went through and to top it off, he was blinded.  Blinded by the light, some 1938 years before Manfred Mann sang the tune.

So what was Saul thinking about?  I'M BLIND.  That is it.  Think of it this way, you wake up in the hospital after a car wreck.  The doctor says welcome back, we almost lost you.  Your back is broken and your legs are currently paralyzed, you ruptured your spleen and we had to remove it, you lost a kidney, you broke four ribs, a broken jaw, lost hearing in your left ear and your nose is broke.  And you say, "what do you mean my legs are paralyzed!".

Saul is blind.  He is to go to Damascus where someone will come and heal his blindness.   Saul thinks this means his eyesight, but that is for later in the story.  Saul isn't saved, Saul is blind and all he cares about right now is he is blind.

Meanwhile, a Christian man in Damascus named Ananias is sleeping peacefully when God comes to him in a dream.  Now Ananias and other Christians in Damascus are well aware that the butcher Saul is headed to Damascus and I'm sure they are bunkered down in hiding.  But God comes to Ananias and says "Ananias, I need you to do me a favor".  And of course Ananias says "Sure, God, you name it!"  Probably darned excited that God would come to him in a dream for a favor!

And God tells him he is to go to this house on this certain street where Saul is waiting and he is to share the gospel of Jesus with Saul.

And Ananias says "SAY WHAT?"

And God tells him he is to go to this house on this certain street where Saul is waiting and he is to share the gospel of Jesus with Saul.

And Ananias says "You want me to go find the butcher Saul who kills your followers and knock on his door and say Hi, want to hear the Gospel?"

And God says yes, and while you are there, I am going to have you cure his blindness too.  And then Ananias fell back asleep.

And in the morning, he went downstairs and said to his wife, "Honey, don't ever serve me that spicy lamb sausage like you did last night.  You wouldn't believe the dream I had!  God told me to go find Saul so I could tell him all about Jesus and everlasting life!"

No, that is not what happened.  Ananias put on his sandals and walked to the house.  I mean you gotta know how hard this must have been.  Saul was like Freddy Kruger to the Christians.  But Ananias went because God told him to go and Ananias told Saul what to do so he'd no longer be blind, shared the Gospel with him, and Saul became a believer that day.  Then Saul ran out of the house and started sharing the gospel, no, Saul ended up studying for almost a decade before his first crusade.

And by the way, remember there were no NT books all printed up. Some of the Gospels had been written, maybe Matthew and Mark, but they used the OT to prove that Jesus was the Messiah.

That is one of my favorite events in the Bible.  The faith of Ananias to go and knock on the door of someone he viewed as the personification of evil itself and did so because God told him to do so.

And so a woman in DC had dreams from God telling her to do what she would do, not to worry about what to say, God would give her the words, and when the time came she did so.

And what did she say?  Don't you think that is important?

'He will not be mocked. He will not be mocked- don't touch me- He will not be mocked,' she said.
'The greatest deception here is this is not one nation under God. It never was. Had it been it would not have been. It would not have been.
'The Constitution would not have been written by Freemasons. They go against God. You cannot serve two masters. You cannot serve two masters. Praise be to God. Lord Jesus Christ. Praise be to Jesus.'

It will probably cost her the job, she will be declared nuts, but she did it because God told her to do it.

Would I?  Would you?
